Helga Sif Friðjónsdóttir Ph.D is the Deputy Director General at Ministry of Health in Iceland and Adjunct and Clinical Assistant Professor at University of Iceland. Helga is an advanced practice mental health nurse with a focus on servicing people who use drugs and have mental health problems. Helga Sif completed her PhD in Nursing from University of Washington in 2007 and has since then focused on developing and redesigning mental health and addiction services as well as teaching and training mental health nurses of the future in Iceland. Because of her pioneer work in harm reduction in Iceland she was invested with the Order of the Falcon on January 1st 2021 by the President of Iceland.
